5 Things You Need To Know Today: June 18

Framingham Lager released today, Chamber event at the Neiman Marcus Cafe, World Citizens Cafe at Amazing Things, free concert at the library and neighborhood construction meeting all featured in today's column.

1. To celebrate its third anniversary, Jack’s Abby Brewing will release Framingham Lager, a new beer, today, that will give back to the Framingham community that embraced the small business.

Framingham Lager is a traditional American-style lager. A portion of the proceeds are being donated to Framingham Downtown Renaissance, a non-profit organization that supports downtown Framingham.

There will be a release party for the Framingham Lager at the British Beer Company on Route 9 from 6:30-9 tonight. 

2. Residents of the Mellon Street, Winthrop Street, Bethany Road and Waverly Street neighborhood are invited to come to the Brazilian American Center tonight at 7 for a meeting with the Framingham Department of Public Works to get an update on upcoming construction projects.

3. The MetroWest Chamber of Commerce, headquartered in Framingham, will hold a business after hours event at the Neiman Marcus Cafe at the Natick Mall tonight for members and non-members tonight from 5:30 to 7.

Come check out the atmosphere, delicious food and drinks at the NM Cafe and network with other Chamber members, including the Neiman Marcus Cafe. Network and grow your business. $10 for members and $20 for not-yet members. Pre-registration with the chamber is suggested.

4.  The main Framingham Library will host a free concert tonight featuring the Elysian Winds at 7. The quintet will perform the works of several composers. Instruments in the quintet include flute, horn, clarinet, bassoon and oboe. Formed in 2012, the group showcases the talents of five musicians from the Greater Boston area.

5. Amazing Things Arts Center will hold the World Citizens Cafe tonight from 7 to 9. The World Citizens Cafe is a place for area residents to meet up, honor their heritage and explore their role as citizens of the world. 

The "Café provides an opportunity for people to relax, share their unique perspectives and experiences, and explore the possibilities that arise when we think of ourselves, not only as citizens of a town or country, but also as citizens of the world," said Phil Cantor, Framingham resident and founder of the World Citizens’ Café.
