5 Things You Need To Know Today: June 3

Mustangs title hopes end, School Committee to honor retirees and discuss new report cards, Boston Cannons to hold skills session in Framingham and heart disease and diet lecture at the library at 2 p.m.

1. The Framingham School Committee will hold a reception for the retirees from the Framingham Public School district tonight from 7 to 7:30 in the King administration building. Refreshments will be served.

The list of the retirees was not available by the Framingham School Administration, as of midnight today.

2. At 7:30 p.m. the Framingham School Committee will hold a public meeting at the King Administration Building.

On the agenda is a discussion of the School Committee goals, the district's improvement plan, a redesign of report cards, district-wide assessments and the new PARCC exams.

3. The main Framingham Library is hosting a lecture titled Preventing and Managing Heart Disease With Diet today at 2 p.m.

Dr. Coreyann Poly will discuss The best practices for heart disease prevention and management. She will talk about whole-food, plant-based, anti-inflammatory diet, with low saturated fat, no refined carbohydrates and no refined oils for the prevention and reversal of coronary artery disease.

The afternoon health lecture is sponsored in part by the MetroWest Health Foundation, as part of the Adventures in Lifelong Learning lecture series, which is a collaboration of Framingham State University and Framingham Public Library. Refreshments will be served at this free lecture.

4. Abington High ended the Marian Mustangs road to the baseball championship on Monday. Marian High lost 13-0 in the MIAA quarterfinals at the Bowditch baseball diamond.
