5 Things You Need To Know Today: March 25

Tonight is the final Selectmen's meeting for Dennis Giombetti and the final School Committee meeting for David Miles and Carol Phalen. Tonight is also the 4th Annual Taste of MetroWest at the Sheraton Hotel.

1. Framingham School Committee is scheduled to meet tonight at 7:30 in the King Administration Building.

This is the final School Committee meeting for Carol Phalen and David Miles, both chose not to seek re-election.

On the agenda is a discussion of the 2014-15 school year budget and the school calendar. There is a reception from 7-7:30 to thanks Phalen and Miles for their years of service. The public is invited.

2. With more than 65 exhibitors, today's 4th Annual Taste of MetroWest is the largest one yet by the MetroWest Chamber of Commerce. Sponsored by Framingham State University and MassBay Community College, the Taste will be held tonight 5 to 8 at the Sheraton Framingham Hotel & Conference Center. There is free parking at the hotel plus Knights Limousine, will provide a free shuttle service. 

Tickets are $28, if purchased by noon today (March 25) at www.tasteofmetrowest.org. After noon, tickets will be $40 at the door. See you there!

3. Framingham Selectmen are scheduled to meet tonight at 7 in the Ablondi Room in the Memorial Building.

Tonight is the final Selectmen meeting for Chair Dennis Giombetti, who chose not to seek re-election.

On the agenda is a presentation by the Framingham Downtown Renaissance on its Boston Marathon event, presentation on economic development and housing inititives, update on the Town Manager's goals, update on solar and green energy articles for Town Meeting and a request for a KENO License.

FYI: There is a community reception to honor Giombetti at the Memorial Building on Monday, March 31 from 5 to 7 p.m. The public is invited.

4. The Gateway Camera Club will present a program by photographers Tom and Vincent Lawrence a father and son team titled Discovering Acadia tonight at 7:30 at St. Andrew Church.

The presentation will showcase the diverse and accessible scenery of Mount Desert Island, Maine, home of Acadia National Park. The focus will be on the thought process that leads to successful images; this includes anticipating weather and lighting, choosing a location, the capture process, post processing, and publishing.
