5 Things You Need To Know Today: March 26

Busy Wednesday night in Framingham - free screening of Honor Flight documentary, Selectmen candidates debate, Brophy science fair and Friends of Saxonville annual meeting.


1. Brophy Elementary School will hold its annual Science Fair tonight from 6:30 to 8.

2. The Friends of Saxonville will hold its annual meeting Wednesday, March 26 at 7 p.m. at Edwards Church's educational building. The public is invited to attend. The featured speaker will be Framingham Town Manager Bob Halpin. He will give an overview of the continuing and proposed construction projects in Saxonville. 

Expected to be discussed will be the Cochituate Rail Trail, the Athenaeum Hall renovation project, Water Street and Central Dam, the Saxonville Fire Station, Ellingwood Operation, Danforth Farms, the Conservation Area at Danforth Farms, the Aqueduct Trails and the former State Lumber Site.  There will be time for questions after the presentation.  Refreshments will be served.

3. There is a free screening of the documentary film Honor Flight: One Last Mission tonight at 6 at the McCarthy Center (second floor) on the campus of Framingham State University.

The public (and Veterans) are encouraged to attend. Light food and beverages will be provided. 

Honor Flight
 is a documentary about four living World War II veterans and a Midwest community coming together to give them the trip of a lifetime. Volunteers race against the clock to fly thousands of WWII veterans to Washington, DC to see the memorial constructed for them in 2004, nearly 60 years after their epic struggle. 4. The Framingham Sierra Club Committee is holding a Candidates Forum tonight at 7 at Heritage in Framingham.The forum, moderated by the MetroWest Daily News' opinion editor, will feature the five candidates for selectmen - Laurie Lee (incumbent), Deborah Butler, Doug Freeman, Ryan Gagne and Cheryl Tully Stoll.The public is invited to the 2-hour debate at 747 Water St. Voters will go to the polls on Tuesday, April 1 to elect two selectmen for three-year terms.
