5 Things You Need To Know Today: March 31

Public reception to honor outgoing Framingham Selectman Dennis Giombetti at Memorial Building 5-7 p.m. and grand opening of the new Tripoli neighborhood community police substation at 1 p.m. today.

1. After 9-years on the Framingham Board of Selectmen, Dennis Giombetti is stepping down. Tuesday will be his last day as Selectman. Tonight, there is a public reception to honor Giombetti for his years of service. The event is from 5 to 7 in the Ablondi Room in the Memoiral Building. Presentations begin at 5:45 p.m.

2. The Framingham Police Department will open a new community police substation in the Tripoli community today. There is a grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony at 1 p.m. at the Tripoli Community Police Substation located at 904 Waverly St. 

3. Just a reminder tomorrow, April 1 is election day. Polls will be open 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. 

4. Temple Israel of Natick is holding a Passover Seder workshop tonight at 7. Discussion will focus on different ways of experiencing a seder, the unique issues that interfaith families face during the holiday, and how to engage children and family members from various backgrounds. There will also be discussion on traditional foods, practices, rituals and melodies of the holiday, so that families and loved ones can enjoy this meaningful holiday together. Elana Kling Perkins, a group facilitator at Perspectives: Jewish Living Through the Lifecycle, will run the workshop. The program is sponsored by the Jewish Discovery Institute though a generous grant from CJP. There is no fee but pre-registration is suggested at info@jewishdiscoveryinstitute.org
