5 Things You Need To Know Today: March 3

Framingham Superintendent to star in cable show tonight, Keefe Tech School Committee and Capital Budget Committee meetings, Framingham High Drama Company wins awards and injured firefighter featured in today's column.

1. Framingham Public Schools plans to revive Education Live!, a cable television show with its first broadcast scheduled for tonight, March 3 at 7. 

Tonight's show, hosted by Superintendent of Schools Stacy Scott, will focus on the proposed new STEAM kindergarten program at the King building. The school district would like to open the town's ninth elementary school in the King administration building. 

Education Live!, according to the Framingham Public School's website, will be an interactive talk show discussing relevant topics in the Framingham Public Schools. Tonight's show, according to a press release from the schools, which feature video clips and interviews related to the district's STEAM initiative, which stands for science, technology, engineering, arts, and math.

The show will air on Comcast channel 8, RCN channel 15, and Verizon channel 41. The show will be re-aired in Spanish and Portuguese with dates to be announced. 

2. The South Middlesex Regional Vocational Technical School Committee will meet tonight at 7 at Keefe Technical. On the agenda is a discussion on the fiscal year 2015 budget, a bullying policy and an update on the roof project.

3. Framingham firefighter Joe Keefe made his first major public appearance Saturday at the 5th Annual Battle of the Badges at Loring Arena on Saturday afternoon.

Keefe, who was seriously injured in a motorcycle crash in 2013, dropped the ceremonial puck before the annual Framingham Police vs Framingham Fire charity hockey game.

The Firefighters won the game 6-2, to lead the series now 3-2. The game was part of a 50th anniversary celebration of Edward Loring Arena. Framingham Patch will have more photos and video from the golden celebration late rthis week.
4.  There is a fundraiser tonight at Orange Leaf, a frozen yogurt shop on North Main Street in Natick from 4 to 8 p.m. to benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Mention the Society, and 15 percent of your purchase will be donated to the organization.

5. Framingham Capital Budget Committee will meet tonight at 7 in the Memorial Building. On the agenda is discussion of Framingham Fire and Framingham Public Library projects.
