5 Things You Need To Know Today: March 4

Framingham Selectmen and Framingham School Committee are both meeting on Tuesday night.

1. Framingham Selectmen are scheduled to meet tonight at 7 in the Memorial Building. On the agenda,  is a discussion with legislators, presentation on solid waste from the public works department, public hearing on licenses for the Deluxe Depot Diner and a discussion on the Keefe Tech proposed roof project.

Selectmen and the Framingham Board of Health will also honor three Framingham businesses for their cooperation during last week's measles alert.

2. The Framingham School Committee will hold a public hearing tonight at the King Administration building on the FY15 budget. Framingham Superintendent of Schools Stacy Scott will make a presentation on his proposed 2014-15 school year budget. The meeting starts at 7:30.

3.  Open Spirit at Edwards Church is hosting a workshop on grief and bereavement. Healing the Heart of Grief will take place from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Suggested donation $25. The interactive workshop will explore the topic of loss and grief, its symptoms as well as ways to maintain heart in the midst of grief.The discussion will be facilitated by Judith Chaloux, who is currently employed as the Bereavement Coordinator for Beacon Hospice  on Speen Street, in Framingham.  

4. Jim DiVitale will discuss "Mastering the Composite Image for Fine Art" at the Gateway Camera Club meeting at St. Andrew's Church on Maple Street at 7 p.m. The public invited to the free event. 

DiVitale will share his image composition techniques from start to finish using several photographic elements to create multi-image photographs for fine art. Emphasis will be on digital image workflow, the creative use of images, layers, masks, and blend modes to montage images into an easy formula for creating final artwork, and the steps it take to get your artwork into a gallery.

5. Today is Fat Tuesday. Many celebrate the day as Mardi Gras. Tomorrow (March 5) is Ash Wednesday, and begins Lent for Christians.
