5 Things You Need To Know Today: March 5

Comedy-magic show at Amazing Things, Superintendent to make presentation to Finance Committee, Flyers hockey team in playoffs and Ash Wednesday featured in today's column.

1. Today is Ash Wednesday and the start of Lent for Christians. 

Three Framingham Pastors - Rev. Gregory Morisse of Plymouth UCC, Rev. Julie Carson of St. Andrews Episcopal, and Rev. Leslie Scanlon of Lutheran Church of Framingham) will be the MBTA Framingham train station from 6:30 to 8 am. providing prayer and ashes to commuters.

2. The Framingham High School boys ice hockey team will travel to Buzzards Bay and Gallo Arena to take on the Braintree team in the MIAA Division 1 South semifinal game. The puck drops at 5:15 p.m. Go Flyers!

3. Framingham Finance Committee is scheduled to meet tonight at 7:30 in the Memorial Building. Framingham Town Manager will talk about CDBG grant money and 8:30 p.m. Framingham Superintendent of Schools Stacy Scott will give a budget presentation to the committee. The public is invited to attend.

4​. Amazing Things Comedy Mique Show and St. Bridget Parish will hold a food drive and night of entertainment at Amazing Things at 7:30 p.m. ​Comedian-magician Malik will present a PG-14 show.

Every attendees who brings a non-perishable food item will receive a raffle ticket to win a magic-themed gift basket courtesy of Cheesecat Productions. Admission is $6 and $5 for Amazing Things members. Selectmen Chair Dennis Giombetti will be a special guest at the event. Doors open at 7 p.m.
