99 Plans to Open in Framingham, Final Farmers' Market and Reception for Police Chief Tonight

Framingham State and MassBay are hoping to house a MetroWest College Planning Center in the historic 1812 House in Framingham.

1​.​ Framingham Police Chief Steven Carl is leaving Framingham to become the director of public safety and chief of police at Assumption College. ​Tonight, ​there will be a reception for the Chief at the Memorial Building from 5:30 to 7. Carl has been chief in Framingham for the last 12 years.

2. ​The 99 Restaurant wants to open in Framingham. 

A Springfield contractor is doing $17,500 worth of renovations at the former Ruby Tuesday Restaurant location in the Trader Joe's plaza off Route 9, according to a building permit. 

The 99 Restaurant had a location in Ashland, off Route 126, but it closed in 2009.

3. ​Due to dwindling vendors, today will be the final Framingham Farmers' Market at the downtown Framingham Common. The market will be open from noon to 5:30 p.m. There is free parking at the TD Bank lot at 1 Park St.

4. ​The Department of Higher Education has awarded Framingham State University and MassBay Community College $375,000 from the Vision Project Incentive Fund to help launch the MetroWest College Planning Center.​ ​
Framingham State and MassBay are hoping to house the center in the historic 1812 House at 1000 Worcester Rd, which Framingham State purchased earlier this year. ​Click here to learn more about the Center.​
