Entertainment to End Early at Framingham Restaurant; Flyers Lose to Natick

Jazz performances at Fuller Middle School tonight at 7; and today is the last Framingham Farmers Market of 2013.

1. Framingham Selectmen voted 4-0 to renew the liquor license and entertainment license for Tropical Cafe, with the condition that all entertainment ends 30 minutes prior to closing.

Selectmen delayed approval from earlier this month, after reports of police called to the downtown restaurant a couple of times for incidents outside the restaurant just after it closed.

Wednesday night, Framingham Police Chief Ken Ferguson, said the restaurant owner was very cooperative and agreed to end entertainment 30 minutes earlier and to hire a detail office on Friday night, which is the most popular night at the restaurant. Friday night can attract more than 150 people to the Route 126 establishment, which features Brazilian food.

2. Framingham Planning Board is scheduled to meet tonight at 7 in the Memorial Building. TJX Corp. expansion and Clarks Hill development are both on the agenda.

3. The snowstorm Tuesday moved rival night to Wednesday and the change did not benefit the Flyers. Both the Framingham High girls and boys basketball teams lost to Natick High Wednesday.

Framingham High hosted the boys game and it was tied 24-24 after halftime, but in the end Natick inched out a 51-49 win. Patch had a photographer at the boys game and will post a slideshow by Cummings Photography later today.

Natick High hosted the lady Flyers and defeated the girls 56-43. Lauren Gemelli led the Flyers with 17 points in the loss.

4.  Tonight is the final concert for Fuller Middle School choral director Lou Fazio. Fazio plans to retire in January 2014. Tonight, the morning jazz choir will perform at the Flagg Drive middle school at 7. The public is invited.

5. Last Framingham Farmers Market of 2013 is today from noon to 5:30 p.m. at First Parish of Framingham, Vernon Street. Stop by for some last minute holiday gifts or some fresh veggies for your weekend holiday party!
