Brazilian Bakery Closes and Truck Crash Ruins Kiwi Beer Batch

More than 160 runners, walkers, and families participated in a 5K race/walk at MassBay Community College to benefit the Krystle Campbell Scholarship Fund. Campbell was killed in the Boston Marathon bombing.


1. The Forninho Magico, The Magic Oven,​ has closed​. 

The downtown Framingham Brazilian bakery and take-out-food business has been boarded up for more than a week. No one answered the phone and no one has been at the location all week. 

2. ​Tuesday, a truck hit a power line ​near ​Jack's Abby Brewing, posted the company on its Facebook page.

Jack's Abby lost its entire batch of Kiwi Rising beer, as the downtown Framingham company lost all power for several hours.

But thanks to Wormtown Brewery​ ​and Kretschmann Brewing Company​, the company was able to get more hops to replace the lost batch. ​

3.  Sunday, more than 160 runners, walkers, and families participated in a 5K race/walk fundraiser at MassBay Community College at the main campus in Wellesley. Event organizers estimate $6,500 was raised on behalf of the Krystle Campbell Scholarship Fund, which was established this year by the MassBay Foundation Board.

The Fund honors Krystle Campbell, a MassBay graduate who lost her life at the Boston Marathon finish line at the age of 29.​ MassBay has a campus in Framingham. Click here to read about the event.​  

4. One of the Boston area's top ventriloquists, Kevin Driscoll, returns to his hometown, ​of Framingham​ tonight to headline a night of fun, comedy, music and laughs at the Amazing Comedy MIQUE Show at Amazing Things Arts Center. Show starts at 7:30 p.m.

5. In case you missed this report on WednesdayFramingham schools and Performing Arts Center of MetroWest continuing its partnership to offer group music lessons for fourth grade students and ensembles for fifth graders.

This year, Framingham Public Schools re-introduced free elementary band instrument lessons during the school day to fifth graders students

But unlike before the budget cuts, students can not take percussion or string lessons and there is no band ensemble for fifth grade students.

Also while the elementary instrumental music program is making a comeback this year, fourth grade students are not included in the free lessons, as they were prior to the budget cuts.
