Framingham Registering Students for Class of 2027; 2 Appointed to New Veterans Council

1. Framingham Public Schools are registered children for kindergarten. Any child who will be age 5 by Aug. 31, 2014 can be registered for the class of 2027, with the district's Parent Information Center.

After online registration is completed, the Parent Information Center will schedule appointments between Jan. 6 and April 4, 2014.

2. Framingham's Health Department will be holding a flu clinic at the Callahan Senior Center from 2 to 4 p.m. for those age 60 and older. Participants are asked to bring insurance/Medicare cards.

3. Framingham Selectmen unanimously appointed this week Iraq war veteran Jeff Cox and Korean War veteran Nick Paganella to the new 5-member Framingham Veterans Council.

A third appointee, William Petro, withdrew his name on Tuesday afternoon. There are still three appointment to be made.

Cox, a social worker and Framingham Town Meeting member, petitioned the Town of Framingham to create the council. Cox said he would like to see the Council's first order of business to survey the community's veterans.

The Council will work with the Town's Veterans Agent Peter Harvell to develop an agenda on needs and to work to help veterans of all ages.

4. Framingham Youth Lacrosse online registration remains open for both boys and girls, but teams at all levels are filling up fast. Visit www.framinghamyouthlacrosse.org for more information and/or to register.

5. In Case You Missed It:  Starbucks is encouraging customers to share their love of coffee with the return of a weeklong special -- buy one holiday drink, get a second one free. The promotion runs Nov. 13-17 and is limited to specialty holiday drinks, such as the gingerbread latte, caramel brulee latte, eggnog latte and peppermint mocha, and it also only applies between 2 and 5 p.m.
