Tax Rate Hearing Postponed to Tonight and Holiday Concert & Rival Basketball at High School

1. Framingham Selectmen will set the town's tax rate tonight at a meeting at the Memorial Building at 6:30. 

The meeting was to have been held Tuesday night, but was postponed until tonight due to the snowstorm, Framingham Selectmen Chair Dennis Giombetti told Framingham Patch. Framingham Town Counsel Chris Petrini told Patch a meeting notice change was to be filed at the Framingham Town Clerk's office Wednesday morning.

2. Tuesday's snowstorm also delayed rival night in high school basketball. Framingham High's boys and girls basketball teams were to have played Natick High Tuesday night.

Both games will be played tonight, Dec. 17 Framingham High will host the boys game at 6:30 p.m. and Natick High will host the girls game at 5:15 p.m.

3. Listen to the sounds of the holiday season tonight at Framingham High School's auditorium at 7. Framingham High's marching band, wind ensemble, jazz ensemble 1 and 2 and orchestra is expected to perform. Tickets available at the door $5.

4.  Tonight, music professor Gil Harel will present a lecture on Mozart's The Magic Flute and other late operas by Mozart. Harel, teaches at Baruch College at CCNY and at Brandeis University. Using sound clips and performing at the piano, he will examine some of the more unusual traits found in the opera at the main Framingham Library at 7.

5. In Case You Missed It: There was a serious car crash at the corner of Hartford and Concord streets Tuesday morning, just after 9:30. The driver, who police and fire did not identify, was taken to a Worcester hospital. The man's SUV crashed into a utility pole, damaging it, at the very busy intersection.
