School Starts A Week From Today, Framingham Resident Named Trustee and Paving on A Street

Present a flyer to Samba Steak & Sushi tonight between 5-8 and 20 percent of your bill will be donated to the Framingham Farmers Market.


1. Samba Steak and Sushi is hosting a fundraiser for the Framingham Farmers Market tonight from 5-8. The Route 9 restaurant will donate 20 percent of customers' bills to the market. A Flyer MUST be presented to Samba for the donation to take place. Please email farmers_market@verizon.net to get flyer.

2. A week from today, many Framingham parents will be placing their children and teens on school buses, as Framingham Public Schools open for students in grades 1-12 on Wednesday, Aug. 28. Students in preschool and kindergarten will not begin school until after Labor Day.

The Framingham Public Schools says it will publish bus routes some time today for parents. Framingham Patch will let you know when they are published.

3. Framingham resident Emmett G. Price III was appointed by Governor Deval Patrick to serve on the MassBay Community College Board of Trustees on Aug. 12th, and he attended his first board meeting on Aug. 13. Price is one of the nation’s leading experts on African American Music, African American Culture, the Black Church, Christian Worship, Black Popular Culture, Hip Hop Culture and Youth Culture. Read more about Price and his new appointment, by clicking here.

4. Tomorrow night, Aug. 22 the main Framingham Library will host a concert to celebrate the end of the adult summer reading program. 

Father and Daughter Jim Porcella and Renee (Porcella) Legendre team up to perform songs originally recorded by Louis Prima, Keely Smith, Rosemary Clooney, Frank Sinatra, Natalie Cole, Michael Buble and others. 

A winner will be drawn from the Adult Summer Reading Program entries, with a Kindle Touch as the prize! Participants do not need to be present to win.

Following the concert enjoy Ben & Jerry's ice cream donated by the Ben & Jerry's Natick Scoop Shop. 

5. Finally, on Tuesday crews were mobilizing to begin paving A Street. The northern entrance of “A” Street adjacent to the intersection of Concord Street and School will be closed while paving is in progress. “A” Street is accessible thorough the southern entrance.
