Selectmen To Appoint 3 To New Veterans Council; Curtis Family Thanksgiving Raffle Tickets On Sale

1. Framingham Selectmen are scheduled to meet tonight at 7 in the Memorial Building. Among the agenda items is the appointment of three men to the Town of Framingham's newly-formed Veterans Council.

Scheduled to be appointed is Iraq war veteran and Town Meeting member Jeff Cox, who had petition the town to form the council. Others expected to be appointed are Korean War veteran Nick Paganella and veteran William Petro.

Update: Petro withdrew his application Tuesday afternoon.

Framingham Selectmen Chair Dennis Giombetti, speaking at the town's veterans ceremony Monday in Cushing Chapel, said he would like to see the fourth member be a woman veteran. (Editor's Note: Hear what Giombetti had to say in the attached video clip.)

Cox had said in the past he would like to see the Council's first order of business to survey veterans. Cox suggested the Council to work with the Town's Veterans Agent Peter Harvell to develop an agenda on needs and to work to help veterans of all ages.

2. Framingham Council on Aging will hold its monthly meeting today at 1:30 p.m. at the Callahan Senior Center.

3. In Case You Missed It: Both Walsh Middle and Cameron Middle schools held veterans assemblies last week.
