Tonight: Kelly's Fundraiser to Benefit Girl, 7, Battling Leukemia and General Chemical Cleanup Meeting

Update on Framingham firefighter, that Southborough Police said was struck by a drunk driver.

1. Dunning Elementary PTO is holding a fundraiser to benefit a student battling leukemia at Kelly's Roast Beef in Natick tonight, Nov. 13 from 4 to 8.

Emma Tierney, 7, a second grade girl at Dunning Elementary is battling Leukemia. 

Please print off the coupon attached to this report and bring it to Kelly's Roast Beef, which will then donate 15 percent of all sales (including take out) to the Tierney family of Framingham. If you are having trouble printing the coupon, email steph.nugent95@gmail.com and a coupon can be emailed to you.

Besides this fundraiser, Dunning Elementary PTO is also holding a blood drive later this month in honor of Tierney. The blood drive does not benefit the second grader, but Children's Hospital Boston, where she is receiving treatments.

The blood drive is Tuesday, Nov. 26 from 1 to 7 p.m at Dunning Elementary on Frost Street.

2. The Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) will update the community on the cleanup of contamination and closure of General Chemical in Framingham tonight, Nov. 13 from 7 to 9 at Wilson Elementary School, which is adjacent to the now closed facility.

3. A Framingham firefighter, whom Southborough Police said was struck by a drunk driver on Oct. 16, was transferred from UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester, where he has been since the crash, to Spaulding Rehabilitation Center in Boston Tuesday.

4. In Case You Missed It: MetroWest Chamber of Commerce has named Donna Kelleher, President and CEO of Next Generation Children’s Centers, as the 2013 Business Leader of the Year. 

Kelleher is just one of a handful of honorees at the 118th Annual Meeting and Awards Gala of the MetroWest Chamber of Commerce tomorrow night, Nov. 14 at the Sheraton Framingham. Tickets are $75 and can be purchased by visiting www.metrowest.org or calling 508-879-5600.

5. Framingham Selectmen Tuesday night approved Black Friday hours of operation for Toys R Us, Babies R Us, Wal-mart and Target.

Each store was required to have a police detail to deal with the large crowds. Target agreed to hire two detail officers. 

Wal-mart and Target requested a waiver to open between 1 and 6 a.m., and to be able to sell food too. Babies R Us plans to open at 5 a.m. and Toys R Us plans to open after midnight.
