Flutie Breaks High School State Touchdown Record
The Framingham Flyers traveled to Natick to face Troy Flutie and the Natick Red Hawks on Thanksgiving and with one record in the books, Troy Flutie took the field needing 4 touchdowns to tie the state record of 44 touchdown passes in a single season. With an arm like Uncle Doug, Troy had tied the record in the first half with a 41-0 score. In the second half, he threw one more making it a total of 7 in the game and 47 touchdowns to end his high school career. Late in the 4th quarter, the Flyers finally scored but failed on the two point conversion. The Flyers scored again and this time elected to go for the extra point making the final score 48-13 Natick.
Before the start of the game, Natick had the parents of all seniors from both sides line up on one 45 yard line and the players and cheerleaders on the other. The seniors were then introduced with their name and number then "want to thank his/her parents" with their names. The mothers were then given a red rose.
