Framingham Resident Chris Zizza Wins NWFA Community Service Award

C&R Flooring president Chris Zizza is pleased to be the recipient of the National Wood Flooring Association (NWFA) Community Service Award, an honor given to those who have donated time or materials to individuals, groups, and organizations in need. Zizza and other award recipients were honored at a special awards dinner on Friday, April 18th during the 2014 NWFA Annual Wood Flooring Expo in Nashville, Tennessee.

Zizza was selected for his work for Marian High School in Framingham, Massachusetts.  After becoming its own entity in 2004 through a change in the governance with the Archdiocese of Boston, Marian High School faced significant budget cuts. Zizza, a former Executive Board member for the school, regularly supports the Roman Catholic high school.  Each year for the past 13 years, C&R Flooring refinishes the school’s gym flooring and supplies and installs new floors as needed in the hallways, theater room, and weight room. Last year Zizza took his support a step further. Marian High administrators reached out to parents and the community with a fundraising event last spring to replace ageing and unsafe school buses. They hoped to raise $10,000 for a one-year lease and $50,000 for a five-year lease. Despite everyone’s generosity, the result fell short - raising only $12,500.  Zizza stepped in and assumed responsibility for the five-year lease.

“I am honored to receive this award,” says Zizza. “There’s nothing more important or rewarding than giving back to the community. Both of my daughters attend Marian High School. It is rewarding to me that I can give back to a school that has given my family so much.”
