Local Theater Company Knows the Secret To Success

Weston Drama Workshop's How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying opens this Friday at Regis College. The musical satire of big business follows the rise of J. Pierrepont Finch, who uses a little handbook to climb the corporate ladder from lowly window washer to high-powered executive. If this production is like other Weston Drama Workshop shows, it is sure to be a hit, as WDW knows a lot about success.

This local theater company has a 51-year reputation of producing high quality shows with full-size orchestras, top-notch lighting, and beautiful set design. WDW has also produced many successful theater professionals including: William Finn (Broadway composer, lyricist and Tony Award winner), Chris Evans (movie actor and star of Captain America and Fantastic Four), Bill Barclay (actor, composer and Music Director for Shakespeare's Globe Theatre in London), Andrew Cekala (13 year-old actor currently on Broadway in Pippin), and Lauren Devine (actress just off National Tour of SHREK the Musical). All these artists got their start in the WDW program.

The current wave of college-age actors in WDW's How to Succeed are taking their art seriously and hope to follow in the footsteps of former participants.  Many are majoring in Musical Theater at some of the countries finest programs including: Framingham resident Lindsay Ortmeyer at Syracuse University,  Framingham's Mackenzie Shay at Wagner College, Sudbury's Daniel Hutchins at Boston Conservatory, Northborough's Josh Telepman at Emerson College, and Ashland's Krystyana Greaves at UMass Amherst. Will their hard work and theatrical studies pay off? Will they find success in their chosen field?

Chris Holownia, Weston Drama Workshop board member and Music Director for How to Succeed says, "The secret to success can't be found in a little handbook like the one in How to Succeed, it's found in our people. Our staff is extremely dedicated to our productions. They are willing to work hard with every aspect of the show so it is a professional level product. The staff challenges our participants at the same time as they nurture them to grow as actors. If those aspiring to find success in the business do so, they can certainly attribute some of their success to the tremendous foundation they received at WDW."
