5 Things You Need To Know Today: July 10

Mosquito spraying tonight, free Jazz concert at library, drama performances at Barnes & Noble and Framingham teens perform in benefit concert all featured in today's column.

Our daily column, 5 Things You Need to Know Today, will help you to get your day started and offer you some fodder for water cooler conversation.

1. Free jazz concert at the main Framingham Library tonight at 7. Clarinetist Todd Brunel and pianist Joe Reid are joined by percussionist legend Richard Poole in a hot swing Jazz tribute to Benny Goodman and Duke Ellington. The trio will also perform some contemporary jazz, too. Refreshments provided by Trader Joe's

2. The East Middlesex Mosquito Control Project will be spraying for mosquitoes in Framingham tonight between dusk and 11:30 p.m.

Spraying is scheduled for areas near Hemenway Rd., Bacon Rd., Frost St., Jean St., Prospect St., McAdams Rd., Raleigh Rd., Blackberry La., Woodmere Rd., Knight Rd., Maynard Rd., Temple St., Mt. Wayte Ave. Irving St., Hollis St., Bethany Rd. and Fay Rd.

3. The Framingham Traffic and Roadway Safety Committee is scheduled to meet tonight at 7 in the Memorial Building.

4. Weston Drama Workshop will perform at Barnes & Noble Booksellers at Shoppers World in Framingham at 5:30 p.m. See performances from How to Succeed in Business, Blood Brothers, Shrek and Almost, Maine . The Workshop is also holding a fundraiser in which proceeds from purchases will benefit the organization. 5. Noah Cichowlas, Claire Lanigan, Johnny Nicholl, and Nick Turner of Framingham were among 120 students from the Greater Boston and Metrowest area who performed at "Amped for Camp," a 3-night benefit concert for the Hole in the Wall Gang Camp on June 14, 15, and 16. The event was presented by Plugged In, a non-profit rock band program in Needham whose mission is to empower youth ages 8-18 to create positive change in the world through music.  

Additionally, Claire Lanigan of Framingham will be performing at the upcoming Plugged In summer session concert on Friday, Aug. 2 to benefit To Write Love on Her Arms, a non-profit organization dedicated to presenting hope and finding help for people struggling with depression, addiction, self-injury and suicide.
