5 Things You Need To Know Today: July 21

Pride lose to Colonials, juried show at Fountain Street Fine Art gallery, first-in-the-nation agreement to help veterans and final column all featured today.

Our daily column, 5 Things You Need to Know Today, will help you to get your day started and offer you some fodder for water cooler conversation.

1. Check out the summer juried show at Fountain Street Fine Art gallery. More than 300 artworks were submitted to the show by artists from all over the country. Juror Kathryn Markel selected 45 pieces by 36 artists. The gallery is open 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. today.

2. Middlesex Sheriff Peter J. Koutoujian announced his office has entered into a first-in-the-nation agreement with federal and state agencies to work cooperatively to better identify Veterans in its custody and provide targeted outreach to those individuals. Click here to learn more about the agreement.

For the third year in a row, Dick's Sporting Gods has partnered with Framingham Youth Football and Cheer (FYFC). 

If 300 coupons are used over the weekend, Dick's has committed to making a sizable donation to help the program provide scholarships to boys and girls who couldn't participate in the program, said incoming FYFC President Chris Connolly.
