5 Things You Need To Know Today: July 2

Sheriff announces a run for Congress, Frogs open against Norwood, Framingham Board of Health discussing lifeguards and July specials at Framingham Beer Works featured in today's column.

Our daily column, 5 Things You Need to Know Today, will help you to get your day started and offer you some fodder for water cooler conversation.

1. The Framingham Board of Health is scheduled to meet at 7 p.m. at the Memorial Building. On the agenda is a discussion about using attendants verus lifeguards at pools 5 feet or under. 

2. The Framingham Frogs kick off their summer season tonight in Norwood. The away meet starts at 6.

3. Neither the Framingham Selectmen nor the Framingham School Committee are meetings this holiday week.

4. Do you like it hot? Framingham Beer Works introduced its new July menu. It features Southwestern-themed food and wheat beers. Entrees include Catfish Burrito Rollup and Sazon Rubbed Pork Chops. Desserts featured are Sweet Potato Pie and Mango Torte. A photo of the July food specials and beers are attached to this column.

5. Middlesex County Sheriff Peter Koutoujian announced he will run for the 5th U.S. Congressional seat soon to be vacated by Ed Markey. Koutoujian, who represents Framingham as Sheriff, made the announcement in a YouTube message on Monday. You can watch the announcement here.
