7th Annual Massachusetts Unbreakable Spirit Walk And Family Fun Day Today

The family-friendly, free admission event takes place from noon to 4 p.m. at Framingham State University's Maple Street Athletic Field.

Today, June 4 the Rossi, Wyman, and Potorski families will hold their 7th Annual Massachusetts Unbreakable Spirit Walk and Family Fun Day to raise money to find a cure for Osteogenesis Imperfecta.

Osteogenesis Imperfecta is characterized by fragile bones that break easily. It is also known as “brittle bone disease.” A person is born with this disorder and is affected throughout his or her life time.

Today's event kicks off at noon with a kid’s 50-yard dash, followed by the presentation of the Unbreakable Spirit Award to Dr. David Vernick for his dedication and hours spent volunteering his time to the Foundation and to the Osteogenesis Imperfecta community in a variety of ways.  Dr. Vernick serves on the Osteogenesis Imperfecta Medical Advisory Council and has regularly answered e-mails from members of the Osteogenesis Imperfecta community with concerns about their hearing, made presentation for families at the biennial National Conference on Osteogenesis Imperfecta, and participated in regular scientific meetings organized by the Osteogenesis Imperfecta Foundation, all on a volunteer basis.
