Framingham DPW Preparing for Thursday Storm

The storm is expected to bring at least six inches of snow, and will likely turn to freezing rain later in the day.

With a winter storm expected to hit town on Thursday, the Framingham Department of Public Works is preparing for clean up duties.

Framingham is currently under a winter storm warning issued by the National Weather Service. Forecasts indicate that the storm could drop from 6 to 12 inches on Framingham, beginning Thursday morning.

The storm, which will bring heavy snow at times, could turn to freezing rain before nightfall.

According to a community alert from the Framingham DPW sent out on Wednesday, curbside trash and recycling collection will remain on schedule.

"The Department of Public Works will do our part to keep the roadways and sidewalks passable," the announcement reads. "However we urge both pedestrians and motor vehicle operators to use caution while traveling."

Residents are reminded to clear off their cars completely, including license plates. Drivers who do not clear off their vehicles can cause safety issues, a fineable offense in Framingham.

Also according to the DPW alert, a snow emergency has been declared from 8 a.m. on Thursday until 8 a.m. on Friday. Anyone parked illegally will be ticketed and towed at the owner's offense. Parking is banned on all of the town's snow arteries, which can be found by clicking here.
