Framingham Storm Central: School Early Release, Town Hall Has No Heat & Tax Rate Hearing Moved

Framingham School Committee meeting tonight (Dec. 17) cancelled.

  • Tuesday, Dec. 17 School Committee Meeting has been cancelled.
  • Framingham Town Manager, Town Counsel and Framingham Selectmen are considering changing the venue of tonight's Selectmen's meeting, which had the 2014 tax rate to be set on the agenda, due to a heating problem at the Memorial Building. There is also the possibility for the meeting to be cancelled and rescheduled due to the snow storm. Check back with Framingham Patch for updates.
  • Framingham DPW: "Parking restrictions are in effect, parking is permitted on the odd side of the street, unless otherwise posted.  Parked or disabled vehicles obstructing snow removal will be ticketed and towed at the owner’s expense. During a declared snow emergency, parking is banned on both sides of all posted snow arteries (snow arteries are identified with red and white signs). Click here to view a list of allsnow arteries."
  • Framingham DPW: "Please use extreme caution while travelling this afternoon and this evening, even if the road has been plowed, it can still be slick. Please take your time if you have to go out.  The Department of Public Work’s will do our part to keep the roadways and sidewalks passable; however we urge both pedestrians and motor vehicle operators to limit travel to only which is necessary.  Allow extra time and reduce speeds well below the posted speed limits.  Leave additional space between you and other vehicles.  Avoid passing or tailgating plows and sanders."

  • Framingham Public Schools have cancelled all after-school activities and there will be no later buses.
  • McAuliffe Charter School will have no enrichment club activities afterschool.
Updated 10:05 a.m.: Framingham High will be released early at 1 p.m. Framingham Middle Schools will be released early at 2 p.m. Framingham Elementary Schools will be released at regular time. No after school activities.

Updated 10:10 a.m.: McAuliffe Regional Public Charter School to release early at 1:25 p.m. No PTG meeting and no afterschool activities.

Updated 11 a.m.: McCarthy Elementary early release at 2 p.m.

Updated 11:07 a.m.: ESL graduation at Fuller Middle School has been cancelled for tonight. "We are sorry and sad. The superintendent of Framingham has cancelled the graduation. There will not be a graduation party this semester," according to the ESL Facebook page.

Updated 11:20 a.m. "In light of the lack of heat in the building, as well as the anticipated deterioration of driving conditions this afternoon, the Memorial Building will be closed for regular business functions at 12:30 p.m. today."

Updated 12:35 p.m.: Framingham Parks & Recreation has cancelled both swim team and wrestling practice for tonight.

Updated 1:55 p.m.: "Given the time sensitive nature of the Official Tax Classification and Rate Hearing, the Board of Selectmen meeting will remain scheduled for 7pm tonight (12/17/13) in the Ablondi Room of the Memorial Building. All matters on the agenda that are not time sensitive will be continued to a future meeting. However, the Official Tax Classification and Rate Hearing will remain on the agenda and will occur this evening (12/17/13)." 

Updated 2 p.m.: Mass Bay Community College will close at 4 .m. today

Updated 2:15 p.m.: MetroWest Republican Holiday Party at O'Connell's in Framingham is being postponed into January.

Updated 2;25 p.m.: Access Framingham will close at 4 p.m. today

Updated 2:30 p.m.: "Acting Governor urges early release of employees. Everyone urged to stay off roads after 4pm until storm passes. Use public transportation if possible."

Updated 4:45 p.m. Library is closing early at 5 p.m.

UPDATED: 5:25 p.m. Framingham Selectmen Chair Dennis Giombetti says tonight's tax classification hearing will be postponed until Wednesday night at 6:30 p.m.

Updated: 5:55 p.m. MetroWest YMCA has cancelled all evening practices and classes.

Updated 7:02 p.m. - MetroWest YMCA will close at 7:30 p.m
