Framingham Storm Central: Emergency Parking Ban; Schools, Town Hall & Libraries Closed

The first storm of 2014 is here and snow has been falling since midnight.

The height of the storm is expected to hit tonight and linger until Friday morning.

Below is what you need to know about this storm, dubbed Winter Storm Hercules by The Weather Channel.

How much snow is Framingham expected to get Thursday and Friday? Here are the projections as of Thursday at 5 a.m.

Framingham Public Schools Open Thursday

Framingham Public School students, and students at the McAuliffe Charter School, returned to class today, Jan. 2. They are closed on Friday, Jan. 3. 

St. Bridget and Marian High students are not due back from the Christmas break until Monday, Jan. 6.

Emergency Parking Ban

A weather emergency parking ban will be in effect for all arterial roadways in Framingham beginning today, Jan. 2 at 6 p.m. until 8 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 4.

Any vehicles parked on arterial roadways during this time will be towed at the owner's expense. Arterial roadways are posted with red and white signs, click here for a list of arterial roadways.

Parking is permitted on the EVEN side of non-arterial roads unless otherwise posted. Residents are encouraged to seek off street parking if possible. Any vehicles obstructing snow clearing operations will be towed at the owner's expense. 

From Framingham DPW About Plowing

"Please keep in mind, that the Department’s snow removal equipment discharges snow into driveways during the course of plowing operations. It is not done with willful intent, but is a result of normal plowing operations displacement of snow. We ask that when removing snow from your driveway and walkways, or when digging out your vehicle that you remove the snow as safely as possible and that you do not obstruct the roadways or public sidewalks; this is a fineable Town By-Law violation."
