Hoops & Homework Program Debuts

The brainchild of Town Meeting member Herb Chasan, a ribbon cutting ceremony was held for the new free after school program at the Framingham Housing Authority on Pusan Road.

This week, children who live at the Framingham Housing Authority apartments on Pusan Road, and soon children at Pelham Apartments and Cochituate Cooperative Homes will have a free, 5-day a week after school programming.

A ribbon cutting ceremony, with officials and community leaders, was held last week to mark the grand opening of the of Town Meeting member Herb Chasan.

At the ribbon cutting ceremony, officials, including Selectmen Chair Dennis Giombetti, praised Chasan for his idea and his determination to make it a reality for scores of children.

Children in grades kindergarten through 5, can participated in the free program.

The program will provide a nutritious snack, access to computers, assistance for children with their homework, a place to read and some organized down time for games, crafts and basketball.
