The Framingham Public Library hosted a video game extravaganza at Wilson Elementary School for two hours on Monday afternoon, specifically for middle school and high school students.

A few younger children tried out the systems in the school's gym, as the 21st Century program at Wilson finished for the day at 2:30 p.m.

Sponsored by GameUnderground, teens tried out a few new games and competed against others in mini tournaments.

The library also had books available at Wilson Elementary for children and teens to check out.

http://framingham.patch.com/groups/trending-in-america/p/kids-getting-too-much-screen-time-cdc-report-shows13707851 I wonder how many books were checked out vs. video games played?

I did not collect numbers this week, but in a previous week at Wilson Elementary, there were 50 books checked out and 10 NEW library cards issued.

Thanks Susan, that's good to hear. When I first read about this, I questioned why the library would be involved in a video game extravaganza.
