SLIDESHOW: PMC Kids Ride Raises $7,000

The first-ever PMC Framingham Kids Ride was held Sunday morning and raised more than $7,000 for the Jimmy Fund at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.

The event was organized by Framingham High senior Michael Berkson.

, a foundation that raises money for the same type of cancer he has survived.

The PMC Framingham Kids Ride was one of more than 3 dozen PMC Kids Rides scheduled across New England this weekend. More than 4,000 cyclists ages 3-16 were expected to participate to raise awareness and funds for cancer care and research.

Individuals can continue to support the Framingham ride, the riders, and the Jimmy Fund through Oct. 1 by donating online at kids.pmc.org/framingham

Company sponsors for the Framingham PMC Kids Ride were Office Depot, MAPA Translations, BJ's, Sports Authority, Sweet Spot Frozen Yogurt, Raleigh, Skeeter Snacks and Phalan Construction.

DJ and MC David O'Leary donated his time during the event and for the after party.

Framingham Fire Department, Framingham Auxiliary Police and Framingham Parks & Recreation also helped at the event.
