Framingham Storm Central: Snow Emergency Issued

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning from 1 p.m. Tuesday until 1 p.m. Wednesday.

Town of Framingham has declared a snow emergency from Tuesday, Jan. 21 at 8 p.m. until Wednesday, Jan. 22 at 6 a.m.

Snow is now expected to start at 4 p.m. Tuesday

Parking is banned on both sides of all posted snow arteries (snow arteries are identified with red and white signs).

Click here to view a list of all snow arteries. Parking is permitted on the even side of the street, unless otherwise posted.  Parked or disabled vehicles obstructing snow removal will be ticketed and towed at the owner’s expense. 
 
Sand barrels have been distributed throughout Town for use by residents, to view a complete list of locations please click here.  Residents can also fill small containers with sand at the Recycling Center located at 255 Mount Wayte Avenue with a valid recycling permit during normal business hours (Thursday, Friday and Saturday: 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Sunday:  11 a.m. to 3 p.m.) 

The Department of Public Work’s will do our part to keep the roadways and sidewalks passable; however we urge both pedestrians and motor vehicle operators to use caution while travelling during the storm.  
 
Please keep in mind, that the Department’s snow removal equipment discharges snow into driveways during the course of plowing operations.  It is not done with willful intent, but is a result of normal plowing operations displacement of snow.  We ask that when removing snow from your driveway and walkways, or when digging out your vehicle that you remove the snow as safely as possible and that you do not obstruct the roadways or sidewalks.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for Framingham and MetroWest from 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 21 to 1 p.m. Wednesday.

The winter storm warning means heavy snow is expected. The current prediction at 5 p.m. Monday is 4 to 8 inches of snow.

The snow is expected to begin late Tuesday afternoon. The snow will be heavy into Tuesday night and may arrive with gusty winds, that could reduce visibility to a mile or less.

Temperatures on Tuesday and Friday are not expected to go above 20 degrees, according to WHDH-TV.
