Robin Zander, lead singer of the 70s and 80s band Cheap Trick performed at the Violet Jam with his newly-formed Robin Zander Band.

The band features drummer Steve Luongo, guitarist Mark Hitt, bassist Larry Hobbs and his son Robin Zander Jr.

Zander has been with Cheap Trick, since its formation in 1973, and still fronts the group.

However, few Cheap Trick songs were part of the set. The band did perform The Flame, but not its iconic I Want You To Want Me. There was also no Surrender or Dream Police.

The Robin Zander Band performed for about 90-minutes before a mostly older crowd and played several covers from The Beatles, The Who and AC/DC.

Next month, an ABBA cover band will perform at the Violet Jam at The Verve  in Natick on Friday night, June 20. Tickets are already on sale.
