Divergent Author Veronica Roth Coming to Framingham

Bestselling author Veronica Roth will do a four-stop national tour this summer. Stops including Framingham, Atlanta, Denver and one in Michigan.

New York Times bestselling author Veronica Roth is making Framingham the first stop in her four-stop only national tour, as she releases her next book - as FOUR: A DIVERGENT COLLECTION.

Four is a compilation of four short stories set in the Divergent world but told from the perspective of Tobias “Four” Eaton.

The book is scheduled to be released on Tuesday, July 8 - the same day she will be in Framingham.

Roth will appear at Nevins Hall inside the Memorial Building in downtown Framingham on July 8 at 7 p.m.

Tickets for the Framingham event are being sold exclusively through Barnes & Noble Booksellers in Shoppers World.

To get into the event one must purchase a copy of her latest book at the Framingham book store. You will receive a book and a wristband.

NOTE: Parents may get into the event without purchasing a book, if accompanies by a child age 15 or younger who has purchased a book.

At time of publishing, the cost of the book is $18.

Other stops on her 4-stop national tour are Atlanta, Denver and Michigan.

Roth, who was a voracious reader as a teen, is committed to inspiring young people to read. So, for every ticket sold for admission to her national tour, a brand-new, high-quality book will be donated to a child in need through First Book.

Roth, 25, has said she started writing seriously at age 12. Her debut novel was the Divergent trilogy series. Roth wrote the book during the winter break of her senior year at Northwestern University.

Divergent
was the recipient of Goodreads Favorite Book of 2011 and the 2012 winner for Best Young Adult Fantasy & Science Fiction.

For those who have not read her books or seen the blockbuster movie, here is a description about the #1 bestselling book:

Divergent is about a young woman named Beatrice Prior (“Tris”) who lives in a futuristic Chicago that is divided into five factions called Dauntless, Abnegation, Erudite, Amity, and Candor. Each faction is dedicated to cultivating a particular virtue in its members: bravery (Dauntless), selflessness (Abnegation), intelligence (Erudite), compassion (Amity), and honesty (Candor). Tris grew up in Abnegation, where she has always felt stifled, but at the age of sixteen, she will have the opportunity to choose which faction she wants to belong to for the rest of her life— but if she leaves Abnegation, she’ll also have to leave her family, and there’s no going back. And Tris also has a secret, which is that she’s Divergent, meaning she has an aptitude for more than one faction. And being Divergent is dangerous.

Insurgent picks up right where Divergent leaves off, and Allegiant picks up right afterInsurgent, closing out the trilogy.
