Hope and Fellow 'Days of Our Lives' Castmates Come to Framingham

"Days of Our Lives Stars" and Massachusetts natives Kristian Alfonso and Lauren Koslow signed copies of the new book Days of our Lives Better Living at Barnes & Noble in Shoppers World.

"Days of Our Lives" fans were lined up outside the Barnes & Noble Booksellers in Shoppers World in Framingham before 9 a.m. looking to get wristbands to have a handful of stars of the NBC soap opera sign copies of the new book Days of our Lives Better Living: Cast Secrets for a Healthier Balanced Life.

The book was released Tuesday and by Wednesday night a half dozen of the Days stars were in Framingham to meet fans and sign books. Framingham was the only book tour stop in New England.

By 7 p.m., almost 500 wristbands had been issued and lines were around the corner of the store.

The 320-page book gives fans the cast's best tips on: diet & cooking, health & exercise, meditation & sleep and fashion. The list price for the book is $34.99.

EJ came with out Sami and there was no Marlena, but the crowd didn't seem to mind.

One woman, one of the first to meet the half dozen stars was a woman in a wheelchair from Watertown, who said she has been a fan all her life. Days of Our Lives first aired in 1965 and is now the fourth longest soap opera of all time.

General Hospital is the third longest and one of the Days of Our Lives cast members signing autographs in Framingham played Lucky Spencer on General Hospital before coming to Days of Our Lives in 2012. Greg Vaughan, 40, now plays Eric Brady, the brother of Sami Brady, who is involved with EJ DiMera, played by British Actor James Scott.

Scott, Camila Banus (who plays Gabriela Hernandez), Freddie Smith (who plays  Sonny Kiriakis) also signed autographs in Framingham Wednesday night.

For two Days of Our Lives stars coming to Massachusetts was a homecoming.

  • Kristian Alfonso, 50, who plays Hope Brady, attended Easton Public Schools until junior high school. Alfonso has played Hope on Days since 1983.
  • Lauren Koslow, 60, who plays Kate Roberts, was born in Boston, lived in Newport R.I. and attended UMass Amherst. Koslow has been on Days since 1996.
