Marathon Music and Healthy Kids On Tap This Long Weekend

School budget hearing, YMCA Healthy Kids Festival, old-time folk musician, Megamind movie and a marathon are our picks.

It’s Thursday, and you’ve got no idea what you or your kids will do for the weekend. Patch is coming to the rescue. We’ve got the best bets for your "done-work-outta-here" time and a few picks for the kids as well.

WHY GO:."Famed 1960s folk revival heroes, the Jim Kweskin Jug Band, parlayed their good-time music at venues from Cambridge coffee houses to the Newport Folk Festival to the psychedelic ballrooms of San Francisco, where they shared billing with the likes of Big Brother and the Holding Company and the Doors.   Jim led the band on guitar and vocals, shaping its good-humored mix of old-time folk, jazz, blues, and 1920s and '30s "whoopie music," says Amazing Things website.

WHY GO: There will be resources from local organizations, healthy snacks,earth day planting activity and demonstrations. Family fun walk, zumba, yoga, bootcamp, obstacle course and rock climbing wall. The first 200 children receive a door prize!

WHY GO: Breakfast served and LIVE MUSIC All Day Long (10 a.m. to 5 p.m.)  Join the party hosted by Rosemary Casey with performances by Rosemary's Baby Blues Band, Dave Lieb, Just Groove Me Live and Smokehouse Lightening.   "This day is going to be a blast so come on down and watch the race, listen to the music and join in on the fun!" says the Chicken Bone.
