AAA: Gas Prices Have Dropped Significantly the Last 6 Weeks

A year ago at this time the Massachusetts average price was $3.76.

Gasoline prices in Massachusetts are unchanged this week, following a national trend that sees prices beginning to level off, according to AAA Southern New England, which has an office in Framingham on Route 9.

“We’ve seen prices fall significantly in the last 6 weeks, but the most dramatic price drops took place in the first month of the decline,” says Mary Maguire, Director of Public and Legislative Affairs.

AAA’s Oct. 21 survey of prices in Massachusetts finds self-serve, regular unleaded averaging $3.389 national average for self serve unleaded of $3.35.

A year ago at this time the Massachusetts average price was $3.76, 38 cents higher than today’s average.

The range in prices in the latest AAA survey for unleaded regular is 44 cents, from a low of $3.239 to a high of $3.699.

AAA Fuel Saving Tip of the Week: Despite colder morning temperatures, warming up your car for just a minute is sufficient. Running the engine any longer than that is unnecessary, and bad for the environment.
