Couple Purchases Diner and Offering $5 Menu Items Through End of June

Norah Zoummar, who moved to the United States from Uganda last year, and her husband Peter have purchased the former Anthony's Cafe and Grill.

Earlier this month, Peter and Norah Zoummar purchased Anthony's Cafe and Grill on Route 135 in Framingham.

The couple, who married in the fall and recently moved from Quincy to Westbrough, immediately re-named the diner to Waverly Street Cafe.

Located across from Monnick Supply Company on Waverley Street, the cafe is open 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Saturday and Sunday from 7  a.m. to 1 p.m.

Breakfast is served all day, including a steak tip omelet, pancakes and french toast. There is also a lunch menu for dine in and take out.

"We're in the process of and doing our very best to get the business back to where it was just about two years ago," said Peter A. Zoummar.

Before opening, the couple cleaned the diner and gave it a new coat of paint.

Diners can eat at the counter, in booths or at small tables.

Through June 30, all menu items are $5 or less, said Peter.

Menu items include, burgers, omelets, a chicken Caesar wrap sandwich, steak tips, sandwiches and chocolate chip and blueberry pancakes.

Peter is the cook and Norah, who moved to the United States from Uganda a year ago, takes care of the rest of the diner's operations. Peter who has experience with restaurants having worked at Legal Seafoods, left a job with a water mitigation company, to run the diner with his wife.

The couple plan to tweak the existing menu, they inherited from Anthony's Cafe this summer, after getting a feel for what customers enjoy.
