Restaurants Closures in 2013: Goodbye Ruby Tuesday, Zeta and 400

Tomorrow: Framingham Patch will highlight new restaurants that opened in 2013.

The restaurant business is notoriously difficult. Sixty percent of restaurants that open will close (or change ownership) within three years, according to research data.

In Framingham, a good restaurant can quickly establish positive reviews and a loyal following, but even that may not be enough to keep the business going.

Several Framingham pizzerias and restaurants closed in 2013, including the following:

Top Shelf Restaurant announced it closed on January 1, 2013.

Oliveira's Steak House closed in January 2013.

LandoZ Homewtown Grille closed its doors in Saxonville in May.

Ruby Tuesday announced in May it would close. Before the year ended The 99 Restaurant had opened in its place.

A1 Pizza on Route 9 East closed in September.

Royal Pizza in Nobscot closed in September, leaving less than a handful of businesses left in the plaza.

Zeta Pizzeria & Kitchen in Saxonville closed in October.

Eggcetera, Etc on Route 30 closed in October.

Limey's Pub closed in December.

The 400 Restaurant in the Mt. Wayte Plaza announced in November it would close before the end of the year. The restaurant's final night was Dec. 21.
