Tufts Medical, MetroWest Medical Team Up To Offer New Specialty Surgical Services

The new surgical practice is located on Lincoln Street in Framingham and will have experts in colon and rectal surgery, surgical and urological oncology, urologic surgery and general surgery.

Tufts Medical Center and MetroWest Medical Center have teamed up to provide MetroWest-area patients with quick and easy access to some of the country’s top surgeons. 

The practice, Tufts Medical Center Surgical Specialists at MetroWest, will offer surgical consultations and perform surgical procedures, all in a community setting.

Located at MetroWest’s Medical Arts Building at 85 Lincoln St. in Framingham, the new practice is staffed by a team of Tufts Medical Center’s skilled surgeons, who are experts in the latest surgical technologies and techniques in colon and rectal surgery, surgical and urological oncology, urologic surgery and general surgery.

The surgeons work side-by-side with the anesthesiologists at MetroWest Medical Center, to provide patients with the best possible outcomes. The practice is open and accepting new patients for clinics.

Tufts Medical Center surgical specialists currently on site include:

  • Gennaro Carpinito, MD, FACS, Urologist-in-Chief. Dr. Carpinito specializes in minimally invasive urology procedures, including laparoscopic and robotic surgery.  He is an expert in treating urologic cancers, including prostate cancer, kidney cancer and bladder cancer, kidney disease, kidney stones, benign prostatic hyperplasia (enlarged prostate), female urology, incontinence, sexual dysfunction, infertility and reconstruction.
  • Roger Graham, MD, Chief of the Division of General Surgery, Chief of Surgical Oncology and Director of the Breast Health Center and Janice Rothschild, MD, Breast Surgeon and General Surgeon. Dr. Graham and Dr. Rothschild are experts in routine procedures for hernias, gallbladder disease and disorders of the thyroid, parathyroid and adrenal glands; the full spectrum of services for benign and malignant breast conditions; and surgical care for emergency conditions, including appendicitis and bowel obstruction.
  • James Yoo, MD, Chief of the Division of Colorectal Surgery and Nelya Melnitchouk, MD, Colorectal Surgeon. Dr. Yoo and Dr. Melnitchouk specialize in the latest minimally invasive procedures for colorectal cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, diverticular disease, anorectal disorders and physiological disorders of the colon and rectum.

 

In addition, Tufts Medical Center Surgical Specialists at MetroWest has hired Physicians’ Assistant Kevin Lai, who will be on site in Framingham full time.
