Please Help Our Veterans, Homeless and Shut-Ins Celebrate Thanksgiving

Article requesting donations for the Curtis Family Thanksgiving dinner

Dear Community Member,

I am writing today to request your help. Last year the Curtis Family Thanksgiving Dinner served 1,650 people. That was a 67% increase in meals delivered to shut-ins and a 20% increase in the number of people served at Eagles Hall from the year before.  In the past Mark and Karen Curtis have paid for this event themselves, unfortunately due to the increase in attendees, they no longer can.

This year, food costs have escalated dramatically and more people in our community are hungry. We are anticipating another large increase in the number of people needing or wanting a holiday meal and we really need your help.

Additionally, the Curtis Family and those of us who help them, are doing special outreach to MetroWest veterans to make sure every veteran who wants a Thanksgiving meal receives one. These people have made tremendous personal sacrifices on our behalf and the least we can do to show our gratitude is to make sure that they have a welcoming seat at Thanksgiving table or a warm meal delivered to their home on this special day.

I ask that you too help make sure that on this one day a year dedicated to gratitude, that deserving veterans and others feel that there are people who care.

If you have reason to be thankful for anything this year, and the resources to be able to give to others, I ask that you consider making a donation to this meaningful event.

This dinner is for anyone who wants to celebrate Thanksgiving. All they have to do is call ahead to get on a delivery list or show up at Eagles Hall on Thanksgiving Day.

If you’re in a position to be selecting items for your Thanksgiving menu based on what you want to serve instead of what you can afford to serve; please consider giving.

Any donation you make will help assure that we don’t run out of food. Cash or checks are welcome and donations are tax deductible. Checks should be made out to:  Curtis Family Dinner/United Way.

You can mail your donation to my home at 6 Sullivan Terrace, Framingham, 01701 or you can call or email me at 508-877-7728 or cheryl@tullystoll.com and I will pick it up.

Additionally, you can drop your contribution off at the on Route 9 or   Please feel free to forward this to anyone you think would like to help.

Any donation you can make will be greatly appreciated.  Hunger is invisible; together we can make sure that compassion isn’t.

Sincerely,

Cheryl Tully Stoll
