Our daily column, 5 Things You Need to Know Today, will help you to get your day started and offer you some fodder for water cooler conversation.

1. Framingham residents, who want to vote in the 2012 presidential election and state races have until tonight to register. The Framingham Town Clerk's office will be open until 8 p.m. today for in-person registrations inside the Memorial Building. Today is the last day to register to vote in the Nov. 6 election.

2. Award-winning television journalist Hank Phillipe Ryan is also an author of mysteries. Ryan has won Agatha, Anthony and Macavity awards for her crime fiction. Her newest suspense thriller, The Other Woman, is the first in a new series. She will talk about her latest novel in a free author talk at the main Framingham Library tonight at 7. Refreshments will be served. Books available for purchase to be autographed.

3. Hear artist Jane Lund talk about her autobiographical, watercolor and mixed media work Home Body, current on exhibit at the Danforth Museum of Art today at noon. Lecture is free with admission.

4. Framingham Fire Department, just after noon on Tuesday, responded to a carbon monoxide incident at 4 Linda Ave. The engine on the scene was reporting high levels of carbon monoxide in the house. The Framingham Fire Deputy Chief said it was a male and a female, who was transported to MetroWest Medical Center. Both were conscious and alert, he said.

5. Special Town Meeting resumes tonight at 7:30 p.m. Town Meeting piad tribute to the late Edward Noonan Tuesday night. Town Meeting also acted on 8 of the 20 articles on the warrant, including approving contracts for the police and fire departments. Framingham Patch was live blogging. Read what you missed here.
