Gubernatorial Candidate Don Berwick Campaigned in Framingham Saturday

Massachusetts gubernatorial candidate Don Berwick campaigned at a home in Framingham Saturday morning, April 5.

A pediatrician and CEO, Berwick lives in Newton. In 2010, President Obama asked Berwick to lead the country's Medicare and Medicaid programs. Now, he wants to lead the Commonwealth.

He visited the home of Vera Linardi in Framingham. The event was co-hosted by Valerie Iyawe, Pablo Maia, Framingham Town Meeting member Judith Grove, Ira Silver, Framingham Town Meeting member Herb Chasan, Framingham Town Meeting member Thomas Grove, Ben Cavicchi, Pedro Hernandez and Dhruba Sen.

Berwick supports a single payer health care system, opposition to casinos and supports for progressive tax structure.

The candidate was running about a half hour late, due to another event. Because of this, a cell phone was plugged into some speakers and he took questions and did his speech while on the road, said photographer Kevin Cummings.
