Voters Will Elect New Selectmen, School Committee Members Next Week

Framingham Town Election is scheduled for Tuesday, April 1.

No joking, a week from today is election day in Framingham.

The Town of Framingham's annual election is set for Tuesday, April 1. Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Voters will elect at least one new Selectmen and two new School Committee members, as Selectmen Chair Dennis Giombetti and School Committee members David Miles and Carol Phalen are all stepping down. Each chose not to run for re-election.

There are five candidates on the ballot for Selectmen - Deborah Butler, Doug Freeman, Ryan Gagne, Incumbent Lauri Lee and Cheryl Tully-Stoll. Two will be elected to 3-year terms.

There are three candidates for three, 3-year terms on the Framingham School Committee. They are Michelle Brosnihan, Donald Taggart and Jim Stockless.

Taggart was appointed to the School Committee last year for the 1-year term vacated when Michael Bower was elected to the Framingham Board of Selectmen.

Planning Board Chair Christine Long is running unopposed for her seat.

Both incumbents A.J. Mulvey and Michael Rossi are running unopposed for seats on the Keefe Technical School Committee.

Town Moderator Teri S. Banerjee and Town Clerk Valerie M. Mulvey also are running unopposed.

Library trustees Arthur Finstein, Sam Klaidman and Jo-Anne Thompson are running for re-election unopposed. There is one open Library trustee position and Elizabeth Roy has launched a write-in campaign for that seat.

Voters also will elect four Town Meeting members for three-year terms in each of the town's 18 precincts. Some precincts also have one- and two-year terms to fill due to resignations. Annual Town Meeting starts Tuesday, April 29. There are 40-plus articles on the warrant.
