What is the Framingham Risk Score?

The Framingham Risk score estimates the 10 year risk of manifesting clinical cardiovascular disease (Heart attacks, stents, heart bypass surgery, stroke). Risk assessment tools such as this are important because they help your physician identify specific risk factors that need to be modified to reduce overall risk. Then strategies or treatments can be implemented to modify your risk (should I be on medications for my blood pressure, just how bad is smoking for my health?, etc).
