Map and Compass for Kids

Want to learn and practice a new outdoor skill? Getting comfortable

reading maps and using a compass are essential skills for navigating

your way on the trail. In this activity, we will practice reading map

symbols, using a compass to determine direction, and learn what to do if

you get lost. Then put your skills to the test with a practice

scavenger hunt through the park!

Best for school-aged children and up,

or anyone who is new to this skill.

Registration is strongly encouraged. If you have a compass, please bring

it! A limited number will be available to borrow. Wear layers, warm

walking shoes and water. Adult must accompany child.
