Why is Katherine Clark hiding from the voters?

PRESS RELEASE

November 13, 2013

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Frank Addivinola today called upon his opponent, Katherine Clark, to stop ducking debates. He is waiting for a response to the 6th proposed debate in this special election for the 5th Congressional seat vacated by Ed Markey. With the general election scheduled for December 10th, Katherine Clark has yet to accept an offer to debate.

Since being nominated by the Democratic Party on October 15th, Senator Clark has consistently shucked her responsibility to voters to engage in constructive dialogue which is the cornerstone of our democracy. She has so far either ignored or declined invitations to appear at five debates or joint appearances with Frank Addivinola. These included the proposed debate at Framingham State University on November 17, televised debates on Fox25 and Arlington cable access television, a radio debate on the Herald Radio and a debate at the Jewish Temple in Malden, Sen. Clark’s own district.

Why is Katherine Clark hiding from the voters?

Meanwhile, Frank Addivinola has been actively campaigning around the district, from Woburn and Sudbury to Framingham and Winchester. He is out there to answer questions from voters and he is working to earn his votes in the election. Does Sen. Clark feel entitled to this seat and doesn’t feel the need to honor her responsibilities to the voters?

Frank Addivinola calls upon the Katherine Clark campaign to start addressing the issues that matter to voters, such as creating more jobs, ensuring better education outcomes, sustaining Medicare and Social Security and taking care of our veterans.

Katherine Clark should address the issues while actually in front of voters. She needs to spend less time on YouTube and more time where every voter can see her positions on issues important to them and compare her positions in a fair and even-handed way with those of Frank Addivinola.

It's time for Katherine Clark to stop ducking debates. Every time she does, the voters lose their ability to make an informed choice on December 10th.

After all, if Katherine Clark refuses to appear before voters now, what would happen if she ever went to Washington DC? Would we ever see her again?
