As many of you know, I am an active and involved resident of the Town of Framingham.
I am the volunteer coordinator for the Framingham Girl Scouts, 500-plus girls strong; and I have been a leader with two other moms for a troop of going-to-be seventh grade girls, many who have been together since kindergarten.
I am a former elementary school PTO president. I volunteer in the schools, for the veterans department, with sports teams with literacy programs and several other organization in Framingham.
So when the Patch Give 5 day came around this summer, I opted to volunteer with the Framingham Downtown Renaissance organization, a non-profit group trying to revitalize downtown. I wanted to volunteer with a group that I hadn't donated time to directly in the past. And I wanted to volunteer with an organization trying to make a difference in our town.
I spent time brainstormed ideas with Executive Director Holli Andrews to create marketing materials and more than five hours developing and writing a media kit.
Using my expertise as a journalist for more than 25 years, I volunteered to create the first-ever media kit for the organization.
