Framingham Honors Veterans, Service Dog Programs
Monday's two-part ceremony for Veterans Day focused on service dogs; and how they help improve the lives of not just the veterans they are placed with, but the inmates who train them and the local families who socialize with the dogs.
The Town of Framingham's Veterans Day program was a little different Monday.
There was the bagpipes playing Amazing Grace and Taps.
Framingham Police Color Guard began the procession.
Framingham Girl, Cub and Boy Scouts marched in the procession waving flags.
Prayers were said and a wreath was placed at the Cushing Hospital Memorial, but highlighted were several four-legged creatures and the women inmates who help to train them at MCI Framingham.
The focus during Monday's two-part ceremony for Veterans Day was on service dogs; and how they help improve the lives of not just the veterans they are placed with, but the inmates who train them and the local families who socialize with the dogs on weekends.
