FYFC Awards Hero Among Us Award to Bob Merusi

The award is presented to individuals who, though their unique commitment and humanitarian spirit have made exceptional and lasting contributions to our community.

Framingham Youth Football & Cheerleading awarded one of its Heroes Among Us Awards to Framingham Parks & Recreation Executive Director Robert (Bob) Merusi.

The award is presented to individuals who, though their unique commitment and humanitarian spirit have made exceptional and lasting contributions to our community. The award is sponsored by Dick's Sporting Goods.

Merusi was one of three 2013 award winners

A Framingham High School graduate, Merusi was a three sport athlete - football, hockey andlacrosse. At the University of Connecticut, he played hockey and lacrosse, before earning his bachelor's degree.

As Parks & Recreation Director Merusi was the driving force behind the rebuilding of Bowditch Field.

Other accomplishments include the creation of Cushing Memorial Park, creating Roosevelt Park, building the new Callahan (senior) center, activating the aqueduct trails and refurbishing Loring Arena, said Barry Bograd, Framingham Parks Commission Chair and a 2012 recipient of the FYFC Heroes Among Us award.

Merusi, who has a masters in Public Administration from Framingham State, is a former Keefe Tech School Committee, Framingham School Committee member 
and Framingham Town Meeting Member, said Bograd.

He is also a current member of the Framingham Housing Authority.

Merusi and his wife Michelle have three grown children and two grandchildren.
