Framingham State, Bowditch Field Host Special Olympic Games

For the fourth year in a row, Framingham State University teamed up with Special Olympics Massachusetts to host the MetroWest School Day Games in Framingham.

More than 100 students and staff volunteers from the University helped coordinate the event with Special Olympics of Massachusetts on Friday, May 2.

More than 200 Special Olympics athletes from 10 area schools participated in several track and field events, including wheelchair racing, assisted walking; 50-meter, 100-meter and 200-meter dashes; 4x100 relay, shot put and long jump. 

For the second year in a row the Framingham Parks & Recreation Department generously provided Bowditch Field in Framingham for the Games.

Framingham Police Department Color Guard participated in the opening ceremonies.

Athletes were awarded for their accomplishments in a ceremonial awards presentation at the end of each event.
