Wednesday at 4 p.m. is the deadline to submit an application for one of the 25 Boston Marathon bibs allotted to the Town of Framingham. A public lottery for the 25 bibs will be held on Thursday.

Framingham Selectmen, at its Oct. 29 meting, voted unanimously to revise the process for allocating the 25 Boston Marathon invitational entries which the Boston Athletic Association will provide to Framingham for the April 21, 2014 Boston Marathon.

Applications for runners interested in participating in the random drawing for these coveted bib numbers are available on the Town of Framingham web-site for downloading or at the Board of Selectmen Office in the Memorial Building.

Submissions of completed applications can be made via email to MarathonBibs@framinghamma.gov or by drop off or US mail to the Board of Selectmen, Marathon Bibs, 150 Concord St., Memorial Building, Framingham.

Guidelines for the new process and applications for runners interested in participating in the random selection for these invitational entry numbers are available on the Town of Framingham web-site for downloading:  http://www.framinghamma.gov/CivicAlerts.aspx?AID=683

The random drawing to select the team will take place on Thursday Dec. 5 at 7 p.m. in the Ablondi Room at the Memorial Building.

The selection is open to the public. Applicants do not need to be present for the drawing.

The first 25 runners selected will comprise Team Framingham for the 118th running of the historic Boston Marathon on Monday April 21, 2014.

An ordered wait list will be generated of all remaining applicants to allow for the replacement of team members who drop out prior to the filing of the official BAA applications in mid-January.

All applicants will be informed via email of their entry status no later than Monday December 9 with the expectation that this notification will take place by end of day Friday December 6.

As the pool of runners is limited to Framingham residents and Town of Framingham employees, time will be needed following the drawing in order to verify residency/employment status.

An organizational meeting for the Team Framingham runners will be scheduled later in December to review fundraising strategies, to arrange for training and to handle administrative matters (waiver forms, runner profiles, and charity selection forms).

A second team meeting will be scheduled for the middle of January at which time the official BAA application forms will be distributed to the team for filling out and for the collection of the payment to the BAA of the $325 invitational entry fee. The fee can be paid by check or money order made payable to the “Boston Athletic Association” or by including Visa or Master Card credit card information on the application.

The completed forms, along with payment, will be collected and submitted to the BAA on behalf of the team by the Town Manager’s Office.

Inquiries or questions can be sent to MarathonBibs@framinghamma.gov or by the Board of Selectmen/Town Manager’s Office at 508-532-5400.
